Martin was born in the late 70s in Düsseldorf and grew up in Dortmund. Since 2003 he has worked as a freelance editor for the German public broadcaster Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR). 2004 - 2010 he studied Film Editing at the German Film University in Potsdam-Babelsberg.  He finished his studies with the feature-length documentary "La Tierra Se Quedó" (2010, dir: Juan Sarmiento G.), which premiered at the Cartagena Film Festival and was screened internationally. Since then he edited and co-edited various feature documentaries, such as "Return to Homs" (editor: Anne Fabini, associated editor: Martin Reimers, dir: Talal Derki) which opened IDFA in 2013, was awarded at Sundance 2014 and screened at numerous further festivals around the world. "Win by fall" (2016, dir: Anna Koch) is a feature-length documentary which won "Best documentary" at the renowned Hofer Filmtage in autumn 2016. His last film "Defender of the Faith" (dir: Christoph Röhl) was well received by the german press and has it’s theatrical release on 31.10.2019.
